If you find yourself here, you probably know me.  For those of you that don’t, as you can see from the byline on each post, I’m Drew.

I started running casually in 2006, and hope to make 2007 a more structured year concerning my runs.

Prior to 2006, I’d never run more than one mile at a time and usually not more than a couple hundred feet.  Early last year, a friend (The Weasel or Cletus if you prefer) asked if I’d like to run in the Komen 5k with him in May.  Figuring I had four months to work up to 3.1 miles, I accepted.  I trained 2 to 3 days per week and finished the race at 33:58.  I felt a great sense of accomplishment after finishing, and was ready to do another!

Life and laziness got in the way, and I didn’t do another race in 2006.  But a stack of back issues of Runner’s World given to me over Thanksgiving by my Wicked Step-Mother aka Sassy Bitch Grandma (all terms of endearment, rest assured) reinvigorated my interest.  Now I’ve got the gear (good shoes, shirts, etc.) to help me along, the people (the aforementioned WSM/SBG, the folks at Equivita, etc.) to encourage me, and a great drive to succeed.

Feel free to stop by anytime to check up on how I’m doing, offer encouragement, poke a little fun, or just say “hi.”
